When should my student start working with AR Academics?
Ideally sophomore or early junior year — it gives us the most runway to build a strong profile, plan testing, and shape a balanced list. That said, we work with seniors regularly and can move quickly when timelines are tight.
Do you work with students outside of Orange County?
Yes. We’re based in Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano, and we work with families nationwide and worldwide over Zoom.
How do we know if we're a good fit?
The best first step is a consultation. We’ll learn about your student’s goals, review where they are, and tell you honestly whether and how we can help — no pressure.
What does college consulting actually include?
A personalized roadmap: profile building, course and activity planning, a balanced college list, essay strategy and editing, application management, and interview prep — guided 1:1 by a dedicated mentor.
Do you guarantee admission to a specific school?
No ethical counselor can guarantee admission, and we won’t. What we guarantee is expert strategy, honest guidance, and applications that present your student at their absolute strongest.
How involved will parents be?
As involved as you’d like. We keep parents informed at every milestone while working directly with the student so they own the process and grow through it.
Do you offer SAT, ACT, and AP prep?
Yes — 1:1 test prep for the SAT and ACT, AP exam reviews, and ongoing academic tutoring across high-school subjects, plus our AR On-Demand library.
How do you decide between the SAT and the ACT?
We start with a diagnostic for each. Students often score meaningfully higher on one format, and we build the plan around their strength.
Is tutoring in person or online?
Both. Many families mix in-person sessions with Zoom for flexibility.
How much do your services cost?
